as we enter into 2007, we will meet with many obstacles and some may seems impossible. but always have faith in Him and remember His goodness and love even in the toughest of time.
so here is 7 key ways of doing the impossible

1. get rid of the wilderness mentality.
mark 4:35
when God brought the people out of egypt and into israel, the ppl wandered in the wilderness for 40 yrs before entering the promise land. He provided them with bread, water (that came out from rocks), shoes (that never get worn even after 40yrs), shelter from the sun and even fire for the cold nights. God provided everything for them.
however when the ppl entered the promise land, God gave them authority over their land and expected them to be mature enough to fend for themselves. He no longer wants us to be spoonfed like babes but instead be matured Christians of strong faith.
He wants us to cross over from the wilderness mentality to the promise land.

2. be ready to touch the unclean
God uses your secular work to light up the place.

3. Expect a storm during the journey
mark 4:36-37

the journey is always more important than the destination. for the journey is the process of overcoming the storm.
mark 6:45-48
seeing his disciples failed the test of faith (in mark 4:35-41), Jesus gave them another chance to put their faith to the test. this shows that He wanted to see if they indeed would have live up to his expectations and rebuked the wind that was causing them to row so hard.

4. Ask God for a 'Rhema'
Rhema- a vision or dream from heaven

Matt 14:25-27

built on your strength
built on your distinction
built on your revelation

Matt 14:29
come, step out by faith. dun be undertaken, be overcoming

5. Use the power of your imagination.
Confidence vs anxiety. dun let ur anxiety overrun the decisions that u make in life. always see the possibility of your sucess through God.

6. develop the strength to handle failure.
Faith is risky. however you must bounce u must bounce back up from failure. dun be paralysed by fear, make your dream work. Strength is the capacity and ability to pick yourself up when u are knocked down.

7. call out to Jesus when you are sinking.
Matt 14: 31
He will always be by your side, within an arms reach, never leaving or forsaking u. call on Him and He will be there just like how He help simon peter when simon decided to walk on water.

before i start, i just wanna wish all a belated merry xmas =DD

since the new year is fast approaching,it is a crucial year for all of us as we'll be taking our As so i've decided to write about 'laziness' =)

Being a sluggard requires only a little effort. * very true

in PROVERBS, the book mentions laziness in:

proverbs24:33

'a little sleep a little slumber,a little folding of the hands to rest-and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man'

this verse tells us that it is indeed easy to become lazy and that it's like only for a moment that you get to 'enjoy' before you suffer the consequences.which in this case,the field of the sluggard ,the one who lacks judgement,was filled with thorns and covered in weeds and the stone walls are in ruins.

proverbs10:4,26
'lazy hands make a man poor but dilligent hands brings wealth'
-'as vinegar to the teeth n smoke to the eyes,so is a sluggard to those who send him'
*i dun really understand this ^ verse 26.
Proverbs19:15
'laziness brings about deep sleep and the shiftless man goes hungry'

it is being emphasized that laziness brings about only dire consequences

proverbs 12:24,26
'diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor'
-'the lazy man does not roast his game but the diligent man prizes his possessions'

it can be seen that time and time again, He emphasized how the diligent will rule over the lazy ones. hence, we can actually see that God favours the diligent as He is willing to bless them more.as we all know, He has the power to pull the lazy/poor out of poverty and yet he does not. this is because He feels that they do not deserve it.this can be seen further in proverbs 13:4 ~

proverbs13:4
'the sluggard craves and gets nothing but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied'

see! he knows that the sluggard CRAVES! yet He does not give!

proverbs15:19
'the way of the sluggards is blocked with thorns,but the path of the upright is a highway'

He will put up barriers (thorns) for the sluggards and yet make the way for the diligent and upright free of obstacles.once again,we can see that the Lord favours the diligent!=)

the rest speak of the excuses of a lazy man

it cleverly pinpoints a lazy man's habit of seeing dangerous obstacles to every plan and making incredible excuses. he refuses to go anywhr (road) and even out of the house (streets) because his imagination conjures up all the things that could go wrong!!

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

I love these 2 verses. When I just got saved, Mong send me an sms with these 2 verses cos the mid years were around the corner. At that time I had no idea what they meant. Now it kinda means everything. Put your faith in Him and everything will be fine. Yep.

Like i said, really short.

Matthew 7:9-11
"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you Father in heaven give good gifts to those who asks Him!"

From this verse, we can find out a few characters of God:

1)God gives good gifts

2)God is our heavenly Father
-He holds everything in His palms
-Compassionate
-He wants to have a close relationship with you
-There is nothing too big for our God to handle
-He protects
-He looks out for us

3)God is a God of how much more (abundance)
-He will not hold back His blessings
-Eph 3:20

4)Ask according to His will and He will provide

HE LOVE US! (:

So when u pray, do know that God is listening to you. In addition, even before you pray, God knows what are your needs. But again, since He knows all your needs, why do we need to pray? Cos He wants to see whether you are willing to run to your Father for help. He wants to see how keen are you in believing He will provide. So it a matter of faith in this context.

Continue to talk to God through prayers even when u are super busy. Prayers do not limit to any places. You can walk and pray at the same time ('talk' in your head) or even when you are bathing. (:

here is some stuff to share. anyway pls update yea.

even as we are moving in to a new year, take some time to reflect how has our year 2006 has went past so quickly. i know it was a super fast year. that we could hardly stop and take a look at the things around us. nonetheless, i believe many of us have experienced many great encounters, special in their own ways. so just journal it down in a book or in ur blogs abt the stuff u feel is worth to remembering. dont let this be another year to pass by just like tt.

as you journal down about 2006, think about what you expect in 2007. be it your goals like A's or even your spiritual life (which i think is more impt -matt 6:19-20 ). pray about what are the visions God has for you. so pray with an open heart and receive from God. (:

lastly, holidays are coming to an end. so must chiong tuts. hahahaha. kind of a spoiler. but rmb to do! hahahahahahahaha. take care pple and God bless (:

there are 7 attitudes of the great.

1. Willingness
Is 1:19

by being willing to do something, releases the energy and allows the job to be done more effieciently and effectively.the willing still battles on even when they are sick and circumstances are against them though it appears to be impossible. Faith comes easily to these ppl.

2.Humility
James 4:10
1 Pet. 5:6

humility knows we need God
humility knows we need others
humility recognises how great we are not
humility admits our shortcomings and congratulates others on their sucesses.
humility waits patiently
humility restrains anger
humility surrenders to God

Being "poor in the spirit" is recognising reality.we are not equal to conquering death, even so life. paul, one of the most competent and skilled leaders in history, reveals his inadequacies(1 Cor 2:3)

4. Thankfulness
1 Thess 5:18
Ps 100

thankfulness is the air conditioner of the soul. It blows out the stale overheated air and brings cool refreshing breezes to the soul. Thanksgiving is the perfect way to be positive in life. positivity without thankfulness engenders in us a hard cold truimphalism that feels like arrogance to others.thankfulness includes God: we are saying His part mattered so much that it would not have been but for Him. It is the key to the synthesis of a humble, positive and confident attitude.

5. Serving
Matt 20:28
Serving is the key which demands we humble ourselves and make the other person more important than ourselves. if we are commited to helping other people go where they want to go, they'll beat a path to our door. if however,we are always wanting people to help us get to where we want to go...
seek to serve others. help them get what they want, not what u want. help others get what they want at your expense. sacrifise to help people get what they're trying to achieve.

6. Generosity
Is 32:8
the generous person gives everybody a lot of room and give more than is expected. a generous attitude overlooks faults and are not easily upset. they overlook small inconsequential mistakes

7. Obedience
Ps 68:6
a person who have authority must know how to be submissive to authority. unrestrained power unleashed the worst in humans

Hi. I'm finally here. =)

Matthews 14:24-29
24but the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear.
27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
29"Come," he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.

So Peter walked on water after Jesus commanded him to do so. Cinsidering the fact that walking on water isn't exactly the kind of thing anyone's able to do, how was Peter able to do it? Cos he imagined himself walking on water and by asking Jesus to command him to walk on water, he put his faith in Him and believed that with Him, he would be able to do the impossible.

So this means that we should be constantly dreaming(oh great)/imagining about things. Only by dreaming/imagining, that we would be able to see things that are unseen!

2 Corinthians 4:18
18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Things that can be seen do not require faith, cos they're already facts. This basically renders them useless. What's important are not things that can be seen, but rather the things that cannot be seen. By dreaming/imagining, we're able to see them.

Hebrews 11 :1
1Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

So by seeing things that cannot be seen, we put our faith in Him that He would fulfill them.

When lester was talking about forgiving others so that God will forgive us. I thought of how tough it is at times for us to forgive others. But as we all know, it's painful to bear grudges and to carry the grudge wherever we go. At the same time, it take a lot of magnanimity for us to forgive others. In addition, everyone do make mistakes. So do the person who needs your forgiveness. Perhaps this is what the Lord wants us to learn and make us a better person for Christ.

Once again, just as what lester has mentioned, that the Lord will forgive others even as we forgive others. It is really through God's GRACE that He forgives us. And this grace cannot be taken for granted. [as we know He sent His one and only son to die for our sins] Though we all know that He will forgive us even as we forgives others and we repent before Him, but its not something that we think it is easily attainable. God's grace is not deemed as 'cheap' so to speak. It is something that we should really be thankful for. Anyway here is an analogy (im super bad at analogy, hopefully this may work) : If you know that there mud in front of you, will you step on it? i doubt so, even if you can wash the mud away. So when u know what are considered to be sins (mud) will you still wish to commit it? I doubt so as well. So same thing apply, dont sin just because you know that God will forgive you. His grace shouldnt be taken so easily. In summary, avoid disobeying God. but when u realise u did, just ask for forgiveness and dont repeat the same mistake. kind of contradicting, but hope u understand what i mean.

Anyway dark, lucky you. i havent been to a christian band concert yet. If you dont consider my church band. haha. but great to see you growing in your walk. (: continuing pressing on.
and remember what to do after u manage to get their songs. hahahahaha.

Hi all.

This isn't exactly a normal routine kind of post, more of a leisure-thingy post.

I was at Heart of God Church last Friday night, where Parachute Band was playing live for the church. I've never listened to them before prior to the concert despite having a few of their songs on my comp, cos PW is taking up most of my time.

In any case, damn, it was good.

It started off with one of the church's own worship team going up to do like, the role of a opening band. 2 songs later all lights dimmed and there we go, Parachute Band was on the stage.

And it was awesome. Beyond the description of words. I'm not going to put the experience in words cos it would do the experience injustice.

They had a sound guy (what's his name, Brad?) who has his own album. See it here. It's like a fusion of rap, rock and christian music. It sounds like Eminem but the lyrics are like Hillsong. Try imagining Eminem singing Hillsong.

But damn, he was uber good. And i mean uber. For a moment I was waving my hands and I thought I was at the FM gig in Singapore in March.

I'm going to get his album.

The band was closed the night with an amazing encore of "Shout". And shout was exactly everyone did. I though I'll never be able to go louder. All in all, it was a great night. So sorry if this posts sounds noob, but hey, it's my first time at a concert of a christian band, so cut me some slack alright.

it kinda tells you about the commandments and how god wants us to be.
and when we pray, remember this prayer

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

There ya go. I actually read this online cos taking out the Bible at home is kinda dangerous for me. In any case, a synagogues is "a the house of worship and communal center of a Jewish congregation." Well I dunno, but it seems to me that it means that when we help someone or do any thing along those lines, we shouldn't blast it around and let everyone know we've done a good deed. Partially cos a noble man does good deeds without expecting anything in return and the one that needs to know is Him.

Okay. There you go. Someone correct me if I'm doing this the wrong way.

GOD-Who is HE? What is He like? What has He done?
ME-Who am i? What does God think of me?
S-Sins that I need to confess or avoid?
P-Promises for me to claim?
A-Attitudes for me to adopt?
C-Commands that I should obey?
E-Examples that I should follow or avoid?

3)Respond to God

After letting God speak to you, now talk to Him in prayer:

"I'm sorry"- Confess your sins, repent, and receive God's forgiveness
"Thank you"- Thank God for His many blessings and promises
"Please"- Pray for needs; your own and others'
"I love you"- End your time with praise and worship

4)Record your conversations with God (journaling)

Write down the Bible chapter and verse.
What did God speak to you about?
What are you going to do about it?
